It is hard to know what to say about this latest reported addition to the iTunes repertoire apart from: Duh, About Time.

Tony Glover over at respected title The Business is the man to blame here after he published an article over the weekend stating “Apple, whose iTunes internet music site sold its billionth tune last week, is preparing to launch a film download service. An announcement is expected as early as this week.”

Of course, Apple already offers television downloads via iTunes, though irritatingly not to all countries, so it remains to be seen – should an announcement be made – whether the same restrictions are going to apply or if the service will be expanded to a global audience. With the hotbed of rumours surrounding a vastly improved video iPod refusing to go away and the latest ‘Fun New Products’ teaser it certainly appears that the company is the industry’s main point of focus again.

We’ll make sure our eyes are freshly peeled (*scrape, scrape*) on Tuesday. Go on Jobsey, don’t serve us up a damp squib.
