MSI Webcam Lets You Be Just Like Paris Hilton

It is midnight in Gordon’s flat. I’m tired, mildly inebriated and wondering why oh why I chose to do this now. Yes, I’m experiencing the same basic thoughts that went through Paris Hilton’s “mind” at a similar infamous hour.

It is fitting therefore, that we should have a new product that could be of use right now: MSI’s Starcam 370i. Being the first consumer webcam to have integrated infrared night vision It would do a good job of illuminating me at my most useless and Paris at her most useful.

This freaky rose styled, four footed cyclops is not a one trick pony though as it brings a CMOS Sensor 5G Glass lens (capable of 30fps 640 x 480 video), a 1.3 megapixel camera and USB audio microphone together in its sinister spindly frame. In built security software also means that the 370i can send emails or text messages to owners if movement is detected in front of it.

In fact, even if you aren’t a fan of the dark you’ll find three inbuilt bright white LED powered lights that promise to illuminate the immediate surroundings while making your pupils shriek in terror. Naturally enough – given this is a fun product – there is no Mac support, but if you have punished yourself for the last seven years with the various Windows OSes you’ll find yourself in business.

Pricing will be revealed at a later date, but expect it to go in the £30-40 range (I’m on a roll) and its lights, camera and action should begin household operation within a month. Personally, I figure you should combine this intriguing oddball with one of the illuminated keyboards we saw here or here and then you’re set for the kind of fun my brain can no longer process at this time.
