Unveiled at the end of last month, the Creative’s newest baby, the Zen Sleek, is now officially available for pre-order on the company’s site.

At £199.99 including VAT (is in line with what we expected), the 20GB player costs a tenner less than an equivalent iPod and it should begin shipping in the next couple of weeks.

We did an extensive run down of all the features here, but to recap your double tonne will get you a player which is 10g lighter (157g), smaller (10.1x 5.9 x 1.7cm) and has better battery life (16 hours) than the rival model produced by the FOWF (Feline Obsessed White Fetishist). In addition, you get a feature iPod’s should’ve been offering for years: an FM radio. On the downside the Sleek has a mono screen compared to the colour ones sported by the-iPods-formerly-known-as-iPod-Photos.

If the Sleek floats your boat head on over here, if not, you’ll almost inevitably end up here. Horses for courses, my minions.

Update 01/08/2005:
While we are still - surprisingly - waiting on the official launch of the Sleek (Creative has "launched" it and taken it down from its site a couple of times now!?!), the much delayed Zen Micro Photo is finally here. First mentioned back in January and then seen with our own eyes at Cebit in March, you can buy it now for around 220 quid.
