Korean company Twinhan has released an updated version of its ‘VisionPlus’ digital TV receiver.

The MagicBox is an external USB powered TV Tuner that conforms to the DVB-T standard and as such can pick up ‘Freeview’ digital terrestrial signals. The MagicBox is housed in a funkier looking casing than its previous offering and Twinhan claim that it offer improved signal reception and sharper images. Stability is boosted by a Microsoft WHQL certified driver – a world first for a digital TV box. Twinhan claims that the box will offer good reception even in moving vehicles.

The box is USB 1.1 and 2.0 compatible and weighs only 20 grams, making it suitable for travellers to pop into their laptop bag. As it receives power over USB there’s no external power supply to worry about, which is one less thing for the traveller to worry about.

The image can be set up for widescreen 16:9 or square 4:3 screen ratios and users can record TV to their hard disks using MPEG2. Other features include time-shifting, an EPG, Teletext and Still Frame Capture.

The The Twinhan VisionDTV USB is available now from distributors in the UK.
