Well it's about time they improved and the greatest shock of all is the reasonable price.

Yes, the 1st step is to put an end to white colours and bitten apples logos. It's not funny anymore.

The only problem is they are not loud enough to be used with the iPod Classic 120GB, you have to turn up the volume almost at its highest levels depending on the ambient, including a reasonably silent one: SENSITIVITY is the drawback.

I always disliked Apple, the company and all of the products, from 70s to nowadays. I hate New Age designs.

What is the deal with the ludicrously low volume on the Ipod 120gb? I use Sennheiser CX-500 headphones and outdoors normally have the volume at about 60%. Compare this with my creative Zen where the volume is at 5/25 or 20%, ditto with my old ipod 5g (20%)! I honestly don't understand, the CX500 are not demanding headphones to drive, why is the volume so piss poor?

The first decent headphones with a mic that Apple have made, and they don't work properly with the iPhone. Odd decision by Apple.

The remote options would be very useful, but I am wary of the lack of bass - I find that my UE 5 pros bass is only good if I get a good seal, and I find that very hard to achieve consistently, even with foam tips.

What is a good headphone for bass assuming you cannot get a good seal? I have tried Shures, but cannot get any sort of seal there. Sennheiser IE8 maybe?

overpowering jaw breaking bass was the main reason i stopped using senn's cx300's and just went straight to proper headphones. the amount of bass the cx300's produced (for me at the time) was just over the top. i could never find the correct balance between good seal and bass that didn't try to squeeze my eyeballs from their sockets.

@dev Im suprised you havent heard the reason the Ipod Classic range has such low volume; its been hotly debated. Its because of eu noise level legislation originating in France. Apple has crushed its volume levels now to the point where ANY ambient noise drowns out the volume. Its naive nanny state tactics, and rather dimwitted as its been proven playing an underpowered device at full volume will destroy a persons hearing FAR quciker than a more powerful device played at mid to mid-high volume. One question still remains however, how do all the other manufacturers still succeed where Apple fails, in manufacturing much more powerful products? This is the million dollar question. Answers on a postcard...

p.s- Buy an Ipod Classic in America, and the unit DOES NOT have the volume capted at 80% resulting in a far superior product.

It's not the mega bass that I want - it is just the presence of bass at all without a seal - I can always get the bass with the UE5's if I hold my hands over my ears - more details too, but I get annoyed by the lack of detail of the lower end that seems to be lost if I cannot maintain the seal. So the Shures are out a they require I seal I cannot maintain, and the UEs are a bit hit and miss - so I want quality headphones that don't need a perfect seal to sound good. Suggestions?

I have also found that 0% volume to 30% volume is basically the same thing...what is the point! I have spent a bit of time looking around and am really disappointed, I might try and flog the ipod and get a zune...imho i prefer the sound and while the screen is the same resolution i think the menu and display setup is really funky. Plus, and a massive plus, i can use a synch program that doesnt manage to choke my q6600, wont change my tags so foobar2000 (my primary media player) library gets messed up, and above all the sound quality is better!
After four years of predominantly having ipod harddrive media players, i have to say i can't see myself going back. Oh for the days of my iRiver H120 and H340, the best sounding players i have ever owned!

I bought the Etymotic HF2 headset for my iPhone about 6 months ago for $180 and they're really nice, but they get annoying after awhile being in my ears that deep. Picked up these Apple headphones on a whim the other day to try them out and haven't put the Etymotic ones back on since. The Apple ones are the most comfortable in-ear phones I've ever used. Sound quality is good, maybe not the best EVER but definitely good. The main thing for me is comfort and these really deliver. They also do a great job of staying in my ears if the cable gets an inadvertent tug. HUGE upgrade from the standard Apple headphones and well worth the money IMO.

I do not like apple mp3 player!
