The idea behind the Marware Sportsuit seems to be a good one. Billed as the ultimate sports case, it’s a fully padded case with an armband that enables you to take your iPod with video out running, without adding too much bulk, and still lets you access the controls.
Setting it up was a bit complicated. With some difficulty I managed to squeeze my Fat Boy iPod 60GB into the thin plastic sleeve - a large plastic window keeps the screen and the click-wheel on view so you can control your player. There’s a very precisely located hole for the headphone socket but cleverly the hold switch is just indicated by a white oval – there’s no need to have it exposed as you can easily slid it across through the thin sleeve.

You then place the snugly clad iPod into a hard case which covers the front and it’s then held in place by a plastic strap in the corner, while feeding through the Velcro belt clip that attaches to the rear of the sleeve. If you need to change volume or track you can open the hard case cover easily by removing the corner strap.
So once you’ve gone through all of that you attach it to your arm and you’re off and running. The only problem is that you then have a giant iPod attached to your arm, and is that really what you want when going for a run. An iPod shuffle is all you really need for jogging – it’s small and light and how long do you work-out for? Do you really need 5,000 tracks? Considering this case alone is £25 it’s probably more sensible to go out and buy a shuffle for jogging and leave the larger iPod for longer journeys.
Verdict
If you’re dead set on using your hard disk based iPod for jogging then this is a good solution – it looks good, it offers decent protection and lets you get at your iPod without too much hassle. However, when you can buy an iPod shuffle for only £55 the logic of using a full sized one for sports doesn’t make much sense.
