If you want a case with a belt clip then you might want to consider this Belkin. This is suitable for all iPods with video and is designed with protection in mind. The leather is quite thick with some very tough stitching down the side but the entire front and bottom of the iPod are covered. There’s a small hook that attaches over the top that’s less bulky than the one on XtremeMac’s MicroFlip case. Looking at the rear, at the top left there a hole for attaching the wrist strap, which seems odd – a hard disk iPod is too large and heavy to hold comfortably by a wrist strap.
The iPod’s headphone and Hold switch are easily accessible at the top, but to control the iPod or to sync it you have to take it out of the case, which I’d find a real pain.

There’s also a belt clip that can rotate so you can have your iPod horizontally, which makes it easier to walk with it. That said, I’m really not convinced by the belt clip on a hard disk based iPod scenario – if you want to walk with your music, buy a nano – it’s smaller. Also, the tough leather in the Belkin isn’t particularly nice to the touch, though there’s a nice white stripe running down one side.
Verdict
This may give a lot of protection to your iPod, but it also keeps the control hidden away and lacks that feel-good-in-the-hand factor.
