Cowon Adds DAB to Flagship PMP

Owning a Cowon MP3 player / PMP is akin to buying an Alfa Romeo: other brands may be more well known but you're an enthusiast at heart. The Alfa brings the drive, the Cowon brings the sound quality...
Never more has this been true than Cowon's most recent player, the iAudio D2+, and now the company has slapped on a rather tasty (and wholly fitting) new feature: DAB.

Consequently, the logically named 'D2+ DAB' brings high quality radio broadcasts to a player which already sports MP3, WMA, WAV, OGG, FLAC and APE format support and BBE+, Mach3Bass, MP Enhance, 3D Surround and Stereo Enhance technology. Onboard storage comes in 4GB, 8GB or 16GB capacities but the additional recession friendly SD/SDHC memory card slot means this can be expanded very cheaply whenever the need/cash arises.
Elsewhere the D2+ will playback QVGA video at 30fps (it's all about the music) and display Jpg and TXT files. There's a 2.5in QVGA touchscreen display, USB 2.0 interface, drag and drop content loading and massive 52 hour battery life for music (10 hours for video). Styling hasn't been changed from the D2 and isn't the most appealing but again that's hardly the point.
The Cowon D2+ DAB is the antithesis of everything an iPod touch stands for which, considering their respective target markets, is no bad thing. Available immediately, 4GB, 8GB and 16GB versions will set you back the princely sums of £129, £149 and £189 respectively. Audiophiles, time to loosen your wallets...
Update: Cowon estimates the battery life using DAB will be approximately 20 hours, though it doesn't publish an official time since the variable factors in DAB reception can influence this figure.

Who says this PMP "isn't the most appealing" aesthetically? That isnt true. It is simple understated, like the classic old-school BMW styling. I quite like it.
