Nice. BBC 6Music on the go.

Although it should be pointed out Gordon that no 'true audiophile' would be caught dead listening to DAB. It's analogue radio all the way in the world of the high-end purist. ;-)

Holy crap!

Finally, someone has thought to add DAB to a PMP. Now I'm gonna have to sell my iPod Touch for this, even if it means talking a massive hit in terms of usability and a small hit in feature set, at least I'll have better sound quality, better battery life and best of all I'll be able to listen to Planet Rock on the road!

DAB has taken a lot of flak over the years which I'm not sure it has entirely deserved, as there are some great genre-specialist radio stations on there if you're willing to look for them. But then, I don't know people are able to listen to Radio 1 for more than 10 minutes without flying into a blinding rage and ripping their own ears off. Quite simply, a radio feature on any device is pointless for me if it isn't DAB.

@smc8788, the original D2 has had DAB for nearly 2 years now. I have one, it's awesome :-) The battery life rocks on these things, I use mine loads and I only do a full charge once every couple of months.

Awesome! But... I'm sceptical about how good reception will be.

@Ed, the reception on my D2 DAB is quite sporadic. When stationary it's pretty good but on the move not so.

The article states "52 hour battery life for music (10 hours for video)". What kind of battery life would you get listening to DAB, as i assume the music figure is for tunes stored on the device?

Who says this PMP "isn't the most appealing" aesthetically? That isnt true. It is simple understated, like the classic old-school BMW styling. I quite like it.

Also hard to see why the need for a gratouitous plug of the ipod Touch in the article, one way or another. Cowon has made a good product for people focused on sound. Give them the respect of focusing on their product in the paltry half page it was allowed, instead of dragging other folks products in here.

@Kanu:

"The Cowon D2+ DAB is the antithesis of everything an iPod touch stands for which, **considering their respective target markets, is no bad thing.**"

Is this not giving Cowon the respect it deserves?

comment Gordon said on 10th June 2009

@Simon - Cowon hasn't quoted DAB battery figures, I'll pose the question.
@Kanu - your blind hatred of Apple isn't healthy, I suggest you take something for that.

Following on from Gordon....

You can get MP3 players that look like those medicine capsules that are near impossible to swallow - and they're only slightly bigger.
