It seems for many computer makers these days that a metallic finish is the new black (which was the new beige) and Sennheiser seems to agree. The German audio specialist has announced the 'Style II' series comprised of three affordable (sub £100) metal crafted earphones lines.
The flagship 'CX 550' (article image above right), midrange 'OMX 95' and entry level 'MX 95 VC' (main picture) make up the trio and each features a metal/composite hybrid construction, neodymium-iron magnets and two year warranties.

On the spec front, the CX 550 leads the way with impedance of 16 Ω, an SPL of 114dB and THD of less than 0.2 per cent. The OMX and MX ranges follow up with impedance of 64 Ω, SLPs of 116db and 117db respectively and THDs of less than 0.1 per cent, they also feature inline volume controls for ease of use.
You'll find new double flanged eartips with the CX550s plus ear adapters in two types and no less than five different sizes while all the models come with a redesigned dampening system to improve bass.
Available now, you'll find the Style II CX 550, OMX 95 VC and MX 95 VC retailing for £80, £60 and £40 respectively. So if you're *heaven forbid* still using bundled earphones with any device then here are three more reasons to put them back in the box, excluding the fact they will make you go deaf!
