For those of you naive enough to believe Apple would throw out new products with barely enough time to advertise them ahead of Chrimbo season let me say this: don't be so silly.

Speaking to MacWorld, Apple spokesman Bill Evans gave an equally terse reply when quizzed by the site stating "Our holiday line-up is set" before walking swiftly away tutting to himself and shaking his head.

Of course we'd all love to see a 5/8MP camera sporting iPhone, new version of OS X or re-re-vamped MacBooks (too lose those glossy screens) but it simply isn't going to happen so buy now either a) guilt free, or b) in the fear that a rush of products may descend as the clock strikes midnight on 1 January.

In related news Apple has been dealt a blow with the news Tony Fadell, the company's head iPod guru who co-invented the industry changing player (alongside former hardware chief of engineering Jon Rubinstein), is taking a "reduced role" at the company due to personal reasons.

Fadell will stay on as an advisor, but with momentum building behind the idea that Steve Jobs may be looking to take a step back over the next few years - losing an able deputy like Fadell won't have done anything for his blood pressure...

Update: Former IBM executive and chip guru Mark Papermaster, will take over from Fadell.

Gordon - do you issue many news stories that you personally don't consider particularly newsworthy, but sort of have to due the requests you get?

@Hallainzil - now and again, but in this case specifically Apple has come out and made a statement about something I was getting quizzed about fairly regularly so I thought: two bi... more
