7Digital has pulled off a major coup today by securing the rights to sell Sony BMG tracks DRM free and therefore completing a full house of the so-called 'Big Four' which includes Warner, EMI and Universal.
In equally good news 7digital will also be offering all music in the ubiquitous MP3 format and at the super high bitrate of 320kbps - enough to please virtually everyone apart from lossless fanatics (and there's no pleasing them!).

In fact, even those who previously purchased music in WMA from 7Digital needn't miss out as the store will be offering free upgrades to its top quality MP3 format for free while a company celebration will see two free MP3 albums given to customers plus a selection of albums listed at just £2 from artists including Queen, The Magic Numbers, We Are Scientists and Sigur Rós.
“We are extremely happy to be the first and only digital media company providing a full catalogue of MP3 music for the increasing number of people who are using the Internet to download music onto different devices," said 7Digital CEO Ben Drury. "The high-quality DRM-free MP3 format is what digital music consumers have been waiting for. It is a universal download format that can be copied and played on multiple devices including iPods, iPhones, Blackberries and other devices."
7Digital won't be stopping there either since it plans to roll out stores for European and US customers in the near future. Could David be slowly growing into Goliath...?
Hats off to you fellas.

Excellent. They certainly got some customs from me in the last couple of weeks. I had to consciously not buying a lot as it's so easy to just add things to the basket.
