Keymost among these is the brand spanking new S Series (pictured), a 7.7mm thin flagship model available in 8GB (NWZ-S738F) and 4GB (NWZ-S736) capacities and sporting a 2in QVGA LCD and 30fps portrait and landscape video modes. New UI’s are on the menu too which can be customized by uploaded photographs while audio playback lasts a remarkable 40 hours with video managing an equally impressive 10 hours.
A novel feature for the range is ‘SensMe’ technology which monitors listening habits and can then suggest playlists based on user moods (something for ‘Sore Feet’ would be nice!).
Behind this is the E Series – also in 4GB (NWZ-E436F) and 8GB (NWZ-E438F) options – and matching the S Series stride for stride (excluding SensMe and a slightly less glamorous exterior). That said, iTunes drag and drop functionality from iTunes is in there and audio playback is an even more incredible 45 hours – naturally under optimum conditions.
Lastly, the entry level B Series extends the company’s line of budget USB drive-esque players and comes in 1GB (NWZ-B133F) and 2GB (NWZ-B135F) sizes and offering an FM tuner.
All three lines will launch in September with the S Series in particular expected to strongly target the (soon to be redesigned?) iPod nano.
