As the only manufacturer which has patents to produce every format of flash memory on the market, SanDisk usually has most capacious solid state products on the market. Surprisingly, it recently lost its crown to Creative courtesy of the 32GB ZEN, but now it's back in the game.

Going mano-a-mano with Creative's monster is the new 32GB Sansa View while the iPod shuffle gets the shock of its life as the brilliant Sansa Clip now comes in a (quite dashing) silvery 4GB version, quadrupling the maximum storage of Apple's player.

This being the traditionally wallet-friendly SanDisk however that's not the end of the good news: the RRPs of these new high capacity players are quite astounding. The 32GB View, for example, will retail for just $349.99 (£176) - less than an 8GB iPod touch, while the 4GB Clip is a meagre $79.99 (£40) - £9 less than a 1GB shuffle. SanDisk products also tend to be heavily discounted by online retailers.

The new models also have a positive knock-on effect for the line's existing capacities with the 8GB and 16GB Views now only $149.99 (£75) and $199.99 (£101) respectively and the 1GB Clip a ridiculous $39.99 (£20) and the 2GBer an equally ludicrous $59.99 (£30).

Both the 32GB View and 4GB Clip will appear next month.

Sometimes the ceaseless march of technology just makes you proud...
