This one has surfaced before, but is headway finally being made...?

Sixteen John Lennon solo albums have gone on sale today for the first time on iTunes after the late icon's widow Yoko Ono approved the deal suggesting a move to at last bring Beatles work to iTunes looks to be progressing. It follows a similar deal made for Paul McCartney's music in May, though copyrights for work by George Harrison have yet to be agreed.

Apple CEO and guru Steve Jobs said: "John Lennon is one of the greatest artists of our time. We're thrilled to have his solo catalogue available on the iTunes store for the first time."

“John would have loved the fact that his music will now be available in a format suited to a new generation of listeners,” added Yoko Ono.

In a move I'm sure Lennon would have been proud of, all his albums – which include 'Lennon Legend' and 'Acoustic' which had not been available to legally download anywhere before – will also be sold without DRM restrictions and at the higher 256Kbps bit rate.

So is the biggest band of all time about to hit the biggest selling music store of all time...? I can't see otherwise.
