There is a saying I like: "Fools and their money are easily parted." Perfect case in point...

Label freaks' favourite Bang & Olufsen has announced the 'Beosound 6', a 4GB flash player with more than a passing resemblance to Samsung's year old YP-Z5. Unfortunately however whereas the 4GB Sammy model retails for under £140, B&O will be charging £400...

If you aren't screaming out loud with consternation or laughing hysterically then you should be. This is simply outrageous and forget that it comes with a leather case (£20) and pair of B&O A8 earphones (£90), it still costs more than an Xbox 360 Premium!

Of course for all this money you would rightly expect a jaw dropping feature set under the hood but there's no video, no FM tuner and virtually no other details. From what I can see of the exterior the screen is also a 1.8 incher and the controls circa 2005. And seriously... you could get a 4GB Apple iPhone and the first five months of your contract free for this!

Personally speaking, for me this is the last straw. I've had it up to here with 'designer' electronics brands. I'm not talking about Apple, but the likes of B&O, Bose and Loewe. None of them have managed a single TR Recommended on this site in over a year yet they consider it fair game to triple industry going rates based on little more than a logo.

Perhaps what is worse is people still fall for this, but for those people I happily refer you to my first sentence...
