Asus today announced that it has introduced a dual CPU motherboard that supports Intel's latest 64-bit enabled Xeon processors for servers and workstations. However, the NCCH-DL is based on the Intel’s 875P chipset rather than the E7525 ‘Tumwater’ that the new Xeon’s are normally paired with.

This means that companies can upgrade to faster Xeons and take advantage of 64-bit computing, without having to throw away their investment in older memory and graphics hardware. For businesses that have equipped multiple machines with up to 4GB of memory, that investment can be fairly significant.

However, for those companies that need to move to even greater amounts of memory, a move to a new Tumwater based motherboards is essential, as these support up to 16GB of DDR2 RAM.

The NCCH-DL offers an 800MHz FSB, and supports up to 4GB of dual-channel PC3200 ECC DDR memory. The board also integrates some of the high-end features such as Gigabit LAN and FireWire ports. Serial ATA RAID is also offered in 0, 1 and 0+1 configurations.

As befits a server, the boards support the Asus System Web-based Management, (ASWM), enabling engineers to remotely manage their machines.

You can get more details on the board at www.asus.com.
