@Beaky69 - a pet hate mine is writing 8-10,000 words a week taking apart new technologies and being picked up on individual grammatical mistakes ;)

A 22" 16:9 is 100dpi though, and given that a lot of people seem to prefer 1680x1050 in 22" (90.dpi) instead of 20.1" (98.6dpi) I'm not convinced there.
I think 16:9 may have some market at above 24", say a 26" with 2144x1206 resolution (94.6dpi). This would be enough to have two 1024 pixel wide windows next to each other, something that neither 1920 format provides.

Personally, for a media-centric display, I find that 16:10 is a better aspect ratio; because with a 16:9 aspect screen, playing back 5:4 or 4:3 media you end up with huge black bars down the sides and a relatively tiny viewing area. With 16:10 you have a good compromise between 4:3/5:4 and 16:9 aspects. You may end up with black bars in both cases, but they're not that large for either...
Additionally, for gaming on older non-widescreen games, a 1920x1200 screen can use 1600x1200 4:3 resolution compared to a 1920x1080 screen that can do a 4:3 ratio of....um... there isn't a standard res' 1080 pixels high...

This is definitely the future standard 2009 and beyond... to play the full HD1080 on a 22" monitor. I would definition consider to buy this LCD monitor in Q4, 2008 PC purchase consideration list. Great!!! keep it up, BENQ!! Good JOB!!

I run on a 1920 x 1200 24" now, and whilst I'd like native full HD, I won't be switching until games can run effectively at 1920 x 1080.

This looks better than the E series, pity it's not available in black though.

Sorry to pick you up on your grammar, but the correct English is "fewer pixels", rather than "less pixels". It's a pet-hate of mine when people get this wrong! Otherwise, an interesting news item. The Grammar-police have left the building...
