When we popped along to see Foxconn during the show, it had a number of interesting products on display - but one in particular really stood out from the crowd. The company was demoing a selection of hand-held projectors on its stand, with the smallest being around half the volume of a 20-pack of King Size cigarettes.

This particular model wasn't being demonstrated as it's still quite a way off being released - Foxconn said that it is really only in the early stages of development and we will probably see its release sometime next year. However, the company did demonstrate another model that was about twice as long and would still fit in your jacket pocket.

The Pico Projector, as it has been coined by Foxconn, was demoed playing films back from an iPod Classic, although we felt it'd be better-suited to giving presentations to small groups of clients. We say this because, based on what we saw from the demo, it lacked the power to project onto a big screen.

What's more, we felt this was the ideal usage model because past experience dictates that crowding around a notebook screen isn't the most effective way to present something - as I'm sure many of you will agree. Image quality looked to be pretty good, although Foxconn's stand was well-lit which meant that it had to cover the screen to prevent glare.

Neither the release date or price have been finalised yet, but it's a mighty promising technology for anyone that shares the same frustrations I've had when you're trying to present something to a small group of people. Now all we need is a portable projector screen that goes with it and also fits in a pocket.
