Bringing some much-needed rivalry to this emerging sector is LG with its 'FLATRON L206WU', an LCD display which can connect up to six additional screens through a USB connection. No additional graphic, no fuss.
Impressively, LG says once the L206WU is selected as a primary monitor it automatically configures itself to the optimal arrangement without a user needing to adjust any settings. By default this means extra screens will act as independent screens, though this can be switched if desired. LG also claims picture quality will be equivalent to that of the master monitor.
As for the tech specs, the L206WU is no slouch either with widescreen 1680 x 1050 native resolution (Sammy's was 4:3), 5000:1 contrast ratio, 2ms response time and 300 nits brightness. A wide 170 degree viewing angle and adjustable height also make this ideal for group arrangements. As for connectivity, DVI-D and D-Sub ports back up the USBs, though HDMI and DisplayPort get the cold shoulder.
LG hasn't given up an RRP or release date for this smart arse display, but expect it not to fall too far north or south of £200.
