It's not yet the season for summer sales but if you go down to the Apple store today you'll be sure of a big surprise.

Effective immediately are price cuts across the company's entire range of stunning Cinema Displays with $100 cut from the 20 and 23 inchers and a big fat $200 hacked off the 30in goliath. Consequently the RRPs have been adjusted to $599, $899 and $1,799 respectively.

Of course this still makes them easily the most expensive range of LCDs on the market but Apple isn't pitching chop shop cheap here, more style and sophistication. Besides, if you can afford one of the new eight core Mac Pros and want to crank it all the way up to 16GB of RAM, 3TB of storage and dual quad core Woodcrest 3GHz processors then you'll need the right matching monitor, right...?

Update: Happily – and rather incredibly – just as I am writing this the Apple UK store has updated to reflect these changes. Naturally you still don't want to do a straight currency conversion in your head (unless you want to be filled with burning rage) but the 20in, 23in and 30 incher can now be had for £399, £599 and £1.199 (and you do get free shipping!).
