After the disappointment of Dell’s stripped down 20in E207WFP ($289 in the US, yet ultimately £262.70 in the UK!) the company has gone back to its number one attraction – the 3007WFP – and had a spit and polish.

The result is the 3007WFP-HC which the company claims now features a 92 per cent colour gamut, an enhancement which should make colours richer and more realistic. Dell claims that ‘most monitors’ colour gamut covers just 72 per cent and that it has employed a Wide Cold-Cathode Fluorescent Lighting (W-CCLFL) backlight to achieve such high figures.

The native resolution is the same wonderful 2560 x 1600 (WQXGA) seen on the 3007WFP though response time has been significantly improved from 14 to 8ms. Elsewhere the height adjustable stand with tilt and swivel capabilities, integrated 9-In-2 card reader and 4x USB2.0 ports remain.

Interestingly, the 3007WFP will remain on sale with the new HC available at a $400 premium ($1,699 verses $1,299). The HC will go on sale before the end of the month across the pond. Now we Brits should assume crash positions while we await UK pricing…
