I suspect that's the whole point. If you want a fun device get the iPhone, if you're looking for a serious smartphone get a Blackberry. They're both targeting different segments of the market.

It'd be a very silly choice then - half the App Stores revenue comes from fart and beer apps!

surely it should be for the developer to decide price and the mobile maker to make the service as open as possible. RIM will still get their 30% no matter what the price so it seems illogical to set the 2.99 mark. They wont get anywhere near the number of developers iphone has...

Got the BB app world day it was released. Honestly, its underwhelming. Looking forward to palm pre and/or iPhone Gen 3

Danger came up with the easy-to-use concept of the app store. Apple copied Danger (and a good deal of Palm) with the iPhone.
