hi. got this phone yesterday and i like it. was just wondering if anyone new a way of locking the keypad when u close the phone if u set the slider as 'continuing function' when it is closed. so that if ur in the middle of texts and close the slider it keeps sending - but then u can't seem to lock the phone! thanks

I recently got this phone for my birthday! I got the pink one, I must admit, it's in my good books at the moment! It looks pretty snazzy and to be fair, over all it is a pretty good phone - not costing too much at all (worth what you pay for). It may have a pretty poor camera at only 1.3 mega pixels, but to me it seems as if it is more! One problem with the camera is the fact is it has no flash - so be warned! :( However, the camera is quite good! The memory isn't the best, so you can buy a memory card for it, but I chose to simply send all my pictures and videos via bluetooth to my computer and then simply delete them off my phone! I still haven't worked out how to change my text meassage tune - so if you could let me know, that would be great! The speaker is quite good and the keys are nice to text with - I'm quite picky when it comes to keys! :) Anyway, I would make other comments on this phone - but I don't want to boreden you! So enjoy this hone if you do have it, over all it is a thumbs up from me! :D

The only reason I'm here is to convey the problem my wife and daughter faced on Xmas Day when they both got the phone they fell in love with: Samsung J700. And I'm surprised I found no mention of this problem in the google search I did. Both phones are still in their boxes, as yet unused, not even charged yet. Why? Because we haven't been able to get the back off. I thought it was just me being stupid, but I've enrolled several pairs of hands to help out, and still no luck. Taking it back to the store we got it from came up empty, as the assistant had no idea at all.

I received the J700 for Christmas and could not get the back off the phone - eventually after about an hour trying, two of us, one holding the phone and the other with a pair of rubber gloves on managed to get it off.

If you use a small lump of 'blu-tac' or similar stuck on the battery cover to gain extra grip when pushing upwards it is quite easy to remove. The battery cover is pretty stiff, but this is otherwise a good phone.

I am interested in getting this phone as there are some pretty good deals at the moment. However, I am hard-of-hearing and I would like to know if the volume on the handset is good quality? ie is it loud? Your feedback would be much appreciated! Thanks Jayne

Hi, got given this phone brand new today.
Couldn't get the back off so I googled it. Hey presto.
Okay I got really fed up and prised the bloody thing off sideways - it was taking a chance but it worked - wouldn't like to make a habit of it though. Fully charged up from brand new in about 2 1/2 hours. Had a play around - I like it.
Camera is functional - what more do you want from a phone?
Nice radio, recording facility, more functions than I need really.
At Jayne: Volume works from seesaw control on LHS - I think it's loud. In fact I don't think I'd have it louder than halfway. Depends on environment I suppose and just how loud you need it - I used it as a radio - you need the earphones as an aeriel. Quality is good - like I say it's a phone for goodness' sake.
Given this cost as much as my last phone and has many more functions, I'm happy with it. Expect I'll probably find other uses for it - I've never felt the need to rely on a phone for online activity - let's see...
Btw I give the reviewer 10 out of 10 for thoroughness. Good information. Thanks.

This is the WORST phone that i have ever bought! I bought one 3wks b4 xmass and had 2exchange it within 14 days as i could not get any signal on it at all and it would cut off mid way through a conversation. So i got the same make and model again as i do like Samsung an loved the look of this phone, now, not even 2mths later, i cannot receive any signal, it keeps switching itself on an off an basically has a mind of its own!!! Im not at all happy and will never purchase another phone like this one again. So be careful, that you dnt get caught like i did!

I have struggled with getting the back off my phone for months so the blu-tac tip was great (although used sellotape), it came off in no time at all. I have noticed that I keep receiving a DNS error message at random times during the day and night and it's driving me mad (needed the back off as Samsung said remove sim and give it a wipe.....very technical eh ?!) and I had already bought a memory card as thought this might solve it but to no avail. I'll see how I get on with the card wiping (won't hold my breath) and may be back on here. Thanks again !

people, the j700 is not a bad phone, . there are good points and bad points to this phone. the bad points are as follows: 1) the back cover is hard to get off. 2) the internet speed is slow but not that slow. 3) you wont be able to find any themes compatible with this phone. 4) the music volume is load, but not that load compared to other phones and 5) some videos and pictures or other files are not supported by this phone, however, if a file is not supported by the j700, transfer the file to your computer, rename the file by changing the last 3 letters to a format that is compatible, then transfer the file back on to your phone. it works.

the good things about the phone,1) is that it is stylish,2) very easy to use,3) the menu format is simple compared to the nokia n-series, 4) very good camera for 1.3 mp, 5)nice and small, 6) reliable if you dont neglect the phone by dropping it or hitting it, 7) easy access to the places you want to go to, 8) nice phone for a casual user, 9) cheaper than what its worth, 10) the best phone i have ever had!

i hope this helps to who ever is deciding on whether you want to buy this phone or not, but its great value

I have had the J700 for almost a year now and I am very happy except for one annoying problem. The clock gains time, and needs to be reset every few days! Its really strange and I have tried almost everything to solve this problem. I have adjusted the time zone settings, tried different time zones and i end up having to manually rest the time at least once a week! Any other users experience this problem?

Help! I have a Samsung sgh-j700.
Can anyone tell me how to adjust the 12-hour time from a.m. to p.m. and vice-versa?
For instance, at the moment, as I write, my phone tells me it is 10.52pm on Wednesday September 16th, whereas it is in fact 10.52 a.m. on Thursday September 17.
What buttons do I need to press and in what sequence?
Graham
