IFA 2009: Sony Ericsson Launches Xperia X2

Sony Ericsson has finally used IFA 2009 to out a handset which has been leaked for so long it's already beginning to feel old: the XPERIA X2.
We're already know pretty much every detail about the X2, but let's run through what is now official. The second generation Xperia will have a much larger 3.2in 480 x 800 pixel touchscreen, it will be capacitive and run Windows Mobile 6.5. That last bit no doubt lost half of you, but for the survivors you'll find some value here as the screen is OLED and sports a WVGA resolution.

Beyond this the Xperia X2 has an 8.1 megapixel camera with autofocus and geotagging - a real high for what is essentially a business smartphone, aGPS, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, an accelerometer and a sensible 3.5mm headphone jack. The interface has also been jazzed up a bit with full album art support, updated Google Maps and YouTube native apps. Microsoft Office is also pre-installed. There's no significant onboard memory (110MB), but a 4GB microSDHC card will be supplied in the box and the Xperia X2 will support cards up to 16GB.
The X2 is still a chunky beast at 110 x 54 x 16m, however, and while it does also result in an impressive battery life of up to 10 hours talk time (GSM) and 500 hours on standby I have to say I'm not convinced many X1 cynics will have their minds changed here. The smartphone will launch in early October to tie in with the release of Windows Mobile 6.5.
So I guess our hopes now turn to the Xperia X3...

Oh I didn't intend to indicate WinMob6.5 a revolution in touch-friendliness or anything, but wasn't clear why you doubted the X2 would have a capacitive screen.
