It was the logical conclusion...

Just two weeks ago Samsung made its TouchWiz UI open to developers and now it is going one step further: the 'Samsung Application Store'. In a simple statement at the newly launched samsungapps.com, the company proclaims "Samsung Application Store is coming up! [coming soon... lost in translation?] Please visit us again."

Despite this seeming secrecy, the launch date will be 14 September and initially there will be product apps for the Omnia, i8910 HD and the impending Omnia II and Omnia LITE in the UK, France and Italy before expanding to other handsets and other countries. Partners include video game heavyweights Capcom, Electronic Arts, Gameloft and TAITO so we could get a cut above the usual fluff. Over 300 apps are promised for launch too, so Samsung seems determined to make this work.

In related news the Samsung I7500 'Galaxy' has finally launched in the UK after being delayed for a number of weeks. No official reason was given for the delay (it hit France more than a month ago), but at least we do now finally have Samsung's first Android handset. With specs like a 3.2in AMOLED display, 7.2Mbit HSDPA, WiFi, GPS, a 5MP camera, 8GB of memory (+ microSDHC slot) and 3.5mm headphone jack it's mighty tempting.

Well, it is tempting as long as exclusive carrier O2 doesn't have yet another data network collapse...

Is it me being silly or are very few of these Android phones coming through as OSX compatible - what gives?
