It may be a little known Nokia service, but it is also one of the most useful... and now completely free.

'Files on Ovi' is remote access software which allows files to be accessed on PCs and Macs directly from your own Nokia mobile phone. This is particularly helpful for displaying photos or uploading them to websites, viewing important documents you may have left at home and even streaming and downloading music. Remote content can even be sent to friends and colleagues straight from your handset. Yep, it's clever stuff.

"On-the-go file access is a basic component of a complete mobile lifestyle offering," said Nokia explaining its decision to scrap charges. "Providing Ovi Files for free enables Nokia to connect more people to Ovi and accelerate the creation of even more advanced Files and Ovi features."

This makes sense and is certainly a relief given Files on Ovi could cost anywhere up to 99.99 euros per year depending on the level of package you took out. Files for Ovi works on all N Series Nokia handsets with other lines to be enabled soon. It's hard to beat free...
