booo... >:(
i don't want to pay the price o2 are asking for, but it seems others are so clearly willing to do that.

Not surprised its sold out - was planning on getting one myself, but now not so sure, and here's why.

Am I the only one not to have spotted that the 'unlimited UK data and wifi' that the iPhone is sold with is only 'free' on ALL tarrifs for 12 months! - after which it's a further £10 a month! - this is not mentioned at all on their website (http://shop.o2.co.uk/update/paymonth.html - its not even on the small print at the bottom) unless you dig further into O2's full terms and conditions! (does anyone actually read the small print?) Surely this comes under miss-selling?! Or am I the only one not to realise this?

Not sure where you seen that, It's definitely free data and wifi with pay monthly. It's only free for 12 month on PAYG then its £10 a month however and this has always been the case.

@KevinB: You're mixing up the contract tariffs and the PAYG tariffs. Data and Wifi are included for the duration of contract tariffs, be that 18 or 24 months. Data and Wifi are complimentary for only the first 12 months on PAYG, after which they cost the normal amount.

Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree. (Hope I am!) I defo read it on their full terms and conditions pages - click terms and conditions at the bottom of the page, then go into iphone section. I would reference where i read it, but it seems that their 'Terms and Conditions page' is 'down for maintanence'. (http://www.o2.co.uk/assets2/errors/maintenance.html) Coincidence? It defo didn't mention PayG. Could swear it said contract. Think I'm going to be proved wrong though.

I stand corrected. pimlicosound is correct, it applies to PAYG tarrifs only. For Pay monthly customers internet/wifi is included for the full term of the contract. Phew!

What I want to know is how come it's £10 per month for the unlimited web bolt-on if you're using an iPhone & iPhone SIM yet, it's only £7.50 p/m to access the same data on any other handset on o2?

I just put my Simplicity SIM in my iPhone and pay £7.50.

With reference to the battery life - I have been running OS3 for a week and the battery life was shocking. I Jailbroke and unlocked the phone 2 days ago and it seems that the battery life has improved somewhat.

@lifethroughalens
the guy in the o2 shop i talked to last week told me that the £7.50 web bolt on is for 200MB. don't know if the iphone data is more unlimited. lol!

comment ravmania said on 1st July 2009

and the bolt on doesn't include the wifi access. that costs an extra £2.50.

comment lifethroughalens said on 1st July 2009

no one ever uses the wifi bit of the bolt-on - unless you live above Starbucks! And i go well over 500MB - 1GB per month on the my o2 tariff (tethering), have done for about a year and never heard a peep from o2 :)
