Now that iPhone OS 3.0 has finally brought such basic functionality such as cut & paste to what is otherwise still the best touchscreen handset on the market, the common complaint will be: it can't create and edit Office documents. Well it can now...

First touted in December last year, DataViz has at last launched Documents to Go for the iPhone and it brings with it full Office document editing and creation. Two versions are now available: a basic Word editing and Desktop sync programme for £2.99 and a £5.99 edition which also brings Exchange attachments. Only viewing is provided for Excel, PowerPoint and PDF at launch but editing is promised in the near future.
Word addicts should be pleased however since beyond the standard create and write Word functionality includes: table insertion, embedded graphics, find and replace, Word count, footnotes, alignment, automatic formatting and more. Furthermore .doc and Office 2007 .docx file formats are supported. As for the desktop sync it provides two way document synchronisation between a handset and PC/Mac allowing files to be downloaded/uploaded/updated easily.
Now if only Apple had provided such functionality from the start...

Update: 'Quickoffice' is also available for the iPhone which brings Office creation and editing functionality. It will however set you back £11.99.
