is it my turn to play spot the error? i suppose ohmz isn't up yet. gonna go out on a limb and guess you meant "wide array OF welcome and...."

is v3.0 really bringing the push notifications? for some reason i thought they were still working on that.

would really be great if they could just sell an iphone with limited memory and let me buy my own 16gb micro sd card for £30. but even if they did would they really lower the price?

I can't see Apple adding Micro SD anytime soon. They liked their closed boxes too much. Perhaps in a couple of years when their market share finally starts to erode due to some serious competition.

We all know a new iPhone is in the works, it's just a matter of do they announce it next week & have it in stores that day or wait til Steve returns (assuming he does) in a few weeks. Personally I'm sitting on the fence and reckon they'll announce next week, but won't have it ready for another month or so. I think with the Pre, N97 etc all coming out this week (give or take) they finally have to go against their usual policy of only announcing when it's in the stores and letting people see what's coming so they don't jump to a competitor.

@ravmania

that is actually why I didn't rush out and get an iPhone initially - the ability to have microSD cards with different collections of films, music etc that I can swap in and out was something I really wanted from my phone choice. I appreciate this doesn't sit well with the concept of the iPhone/iTunes work flow, but the Pre doesn't have it either and I'd still like it...

Every iPhone owner should send Palm a check - The Pre is the only reason they are getting half of this update. I have too many issues with Apple (AT&T being a large one) to ever get an iPhone, but competition is good. Hopefully we'll see more phones that can actually compete with the iPhone - I just wish the whole 'exclusive' carrier bull@##@ would stop. I'll never get an iPhone thanks to that.

What's this, Gordons actually criticising the iPhone?!? What's wrong in Apple fan world?!?

@Oliver - you clearly forget me writing such stories as:
http://www.trustedreviews.com/apple/news/2008/06/09/iPhone-3G-The-Full-Details-Disappointments/p1
http://www.trustedreviews.com/mobile-phones/review/2008/11/18/Google-Android-vs--Mobile-Mac-OS-X/p1

I'm not brand loyal in anyway - I'm the ultimate fair weather fan (as all consumers should be) supporting whatever is best at the time. The moment a better handset than the iPhone is developed I'll be the first to jump ship ;)

The Pre is looking highly tempting!
