Samsung Android Phone Rechristened & Carrier Dated

That didn't take long...
Unlike the Palm Pre which has taken 6 months since its CES launch to get an official release date, Korean giant Samsung is an altogether faster animal just because one month after announcing the Android powered I7500 we have a carrier timeframe.

Signalling what should be a yardstick for the rest of Europe, French network Bouygues Telecom has confirmed it will be releasing the I7500 in early July. No price plans were revealed but it did confirm the handset would be marketed as the 'Samsung Galaxy'. Whether this is Bouygues-centric move or a Samsung alteration is unknown at this stage.
What is certain however is the I7500/Galaxy will be the most spec-tastic Android handset to date with a 3.2in 320 x 480 AMOLED display, 5MP camera, 7.2Mbit HSDPA, WiFi, aGPS, 8GB of internal memory, a 32GB compatible microSD expansion slot, 3.5mm jack and huge 1500mAh battery. At just 11.9mm thick it is also in line with the HTC Magic and iPhone 3G.
Interestingly, a June launch had originally been mooted so perhaps UK telcos will get their hands on the I7500 (I'm remaining cautious and sticking to the numbers for now) even sooner. Let's hope so...

HardwareZone says the i7500 features a capacitive touch screen, although I'm not completely sure where they got their information from:
