More iPhone OS 3.0 Features Discovered

It would be fair to say iPhone OS 3.0 rather exceeded our expectations, so it is equally encouraging to see Apple isn't sitting on its laurels...
The latest beta given to developers has revealed a number of excellent tweaks which should help make the average iPhone owner happier with his lot.
First among them is very simple: a single Safari browser window can be closed. Previously one had to remain open and for those looking to clear away their last web pages it meant a frustrating system of opening a second blank browser tab before going back to the other one to close it. Problem solved! Now if only open pages would remember their content for more than a few minutes when closed!

Next is the useful addition of 'data detectors' across a wider range of apps so that email addresses, phone numbers, postcodes etc are picked up in things like notepad (pictured above). Simple, but rather handy.

On top of this is the ability to adjust the 'scrubbing speed' in the iPod. Also known as Fast Forward and Fast Rewind in laymen's terms it should help those who find the current setting rather ponderous (ALL SAY 'I'!).

Finally Push notifications have been split into three types - 'Sounds', 'Alerts' and 'Badges' - which can be individually enabled or disabled. This should help save on battery life and also stop users getting buzzed at every little thing.
Keep em coming Apple - oh and throw in a new iPhone(s) at the time of the official OS 3.0 release, there's a good boy...
