LG Unveils Flagship Handset With 'Revolutionary' UI

LG Prada came before the iPhone bla bla bla etc, so it's more influenced by their earlier models design wise than the iFart. It's also more aping the Samsung Omnia looks & features wise to my eyes, but as ever LG seem to lag behind Sammy).

The Cube interface might work on a Linux desktop, this looks a bit gimmicky and convuluted to me; have to see it in the flesh though. Still if they can improve their software in other areas it might be a contender.

All these touchscreen phones have the majority of the features the iPhone sorely lacks and keeps me from considering it, but they fall down when it comes to ease of use. You'd think after 2 years or more of touchscreen phones somebody would manage to marry both features and ease of use. Let's see what MWC brings.

Hmm... well, no matter what, I know this much - if the UI is sluggish because it's been made to look "flashy", then it will be a waste of time.

Lets hope, though. Competition is good.

as Hallainzil said above - if the 3d interface is sluggish, it will be switched off as soon as possible. People value efficiency once the "erm. wow" factor has faded. Just about every phone I've had over the past 2 years has had zoomy animations, and rotating thingummy bobs - which all get switched off when actually just wanting to use the phone. This seems to be an area that the iPhone got right - as much as I hate to say it - the animations seem to be part of the feedback - if something animates, it animates for a reason - either that, or there is no lag while the animation loads. Until other phone companies make a touchscreen that is as intuitive as the iPhone, then they're all just chasing shadows. Still, it's nice that they're trying, at least. One day, they may get it right. But then, how long has the iPod been out - and has anyone come close? Sigh.

That'd be why they keep on making those rubbish UIs!
