While Apple may have blown RIM's mojo today by announcing the iPhone 3G is now outselling all BlackBerrys combined, there may be some better news ahead for its legion of fans...
Sources tell us the company's most anticipated handset to date, the touchscreen BlackBerry Storm, now has a specific UK target date and the day to be circled on your calendars should all go to plan is for launch partner Vodafone to release the phone on 7 November.

It also seems that talk of mammoth two year contracts on the handset are well wide of the mark with sources indicating to us that no such discussion beyond 18 months has been going on inside the telco. Interestingly, the BlackBerry Storm section of Vodafone's UK site is also currently down as we speak too so let's hope there's something official coming our way soon. If it turns out just to be a font update we'll be pretty narked.
So with the Apple Q4 results now looking RIM squarely in the eye and shouting Game On! let's hope those inventive Canadians pack the punch to fight back...
Update: Pah, the Vodafone Storm UK site back with no major alterations. But trust us, whether the date inches slightly forward or back over the coming weeks, it's time to get saving...
Update 2: The Storm has now been bumped to 14 November, but Vodafone tells me it will have "plentiful stock" for launch day. Chin up.
