sure why would any manufacturer consider an os thats:
free
customisable
piggy backs on a great brand

I had every model of the spv for the past 5 years, WM was good in its day but now its hopelessy out of date compared to the iphone etc

I can't help think WM 7 will be a bad rip of of the iphone, just like the zune was a bad rip of of the ipod.

Has anyone actually tried a Zune? I'm on my fourth iPod, having just bought the new Nano, but if I could easily get a Zune in the UK I would have considered it.

The devices look good (to me) and they have way more features than non touchscreen iPods. From what I've read the UI is better too.

I'm not sure he should be talking about mobile. Sure, he may have 175 carriers, but he also has a poor user interface and tiny market share after years of hard work. This is the guy that laughed at the iPhone, yeah Steve you are right. If android takes off then I see WM dying a slow death, squeezed out by RIM, Apple, Google and Simbian - good riddance.

The big question for me is how Ballmer has managed to hang on to his job for so long. The guy is consistently a major embarrassment for Microsoft.......................just my opinion of course :)

@Krog - still, he's a breath of fresh air compared to most gaff-free, boring, tight lipped CEO's - I hope that he stays around long enough to either eat his words or revel in the success of the next WM platform. I like attitude and opinion - especially when it's completely misguided or just plain wrong :)

Personally i'm still hoping that Symbian gets it's act together since I think that they alone have the market share and technical know-how to dominate the industry...it needs to me more user friendly though. Just my opinion though!
