@Shaun & Geoff - thanks guys, you may have noticed we had some temporary formatting issues with £ signs which was complicating things. All solved now.
@Lt. Templeton Peck (great name!) - very impressive, the official line was they were not available. You're very lucky, though of course I assume - being white - it must be for a girl you know... ;)

Myself and a few of my friends all bought White iPhones on the 1st week of release. I only got white cos the black ones had all sold out! (Apple store Brent Cross London)

White iPhone 3G's have been available in Apple stores since launch day. I saw them in London and Bluewater. This story was incorrect on The Register also and they changed it. Is it CPW who are getting it all wrong?
This only benefits upgraders.
Being a new customer, I had some choice in the matter. I thought I wanted the white, but in the flesh they just don't look quite right IMHO. Still, that keeps them nice and exclusive if you're one of the folks who has one or wants one.

What we know for certain guys is the Carphone Warehouse and O2 have never had white iPhones in stock, so this could be the first time it has spread outside official Apple stores (which aren't the most plentiful of outlets).
Apple certainly claimed white handsets wouldn't be available at the UK launch but it seems some have already been slipping through the net from what you guys have said.

I think this may backfire, reporting fake products is never a good idea.

Another White iPhone 3G owner from launch day. Apple store in The Trafford Centre, Manchester. They seemed plentiful. Only took 10 hours to get my phone that day - went to an O2 shop first only to find they only had 3 16gb ones and those were snapped up by the first three in the queue (I was 8th). So i chanced a run to the Trafford Centre but got caught up in the O2 system failure fiasco. Still amazed at how well the store staff treated us - like royalty - and walked out with my White 16-gigger at around ten-to-five.
Girly? Deffo not. It's an ice white and looks wayyyyy better than the black one.
