While the idea of jogging holds as much appeal to me as sliding down a banister of razor blades, those who do enjoy this baffling way to exercise (give me a swimming pool and weights room any day) will be thrilled to know Nike+ is headed to your iPhones and iPod touches.

A wide variety of images (selection below) of the converted application have been discovered by French site iPhon.fr and they give us a good idea of what to expect.

Obviously a new touchscreen interface is now key to the product as is a look to match the phone/player's existing layouts but perhaps most interestingly is the new-found ability to use core applications such as Google Maps (with WiFi, EDGE or 3G depending on your device) to plan and track roots and record distances.

Described as still unstable, there is understandably no indication as to availability or price for this latest incarnation of Nike+ but it certainly seems to be in the latter stages of tweaking and bug fixes. I'd also be surprised if pricing is much greater than £20/25 given the iPhone 3G in particular shouldn't need a separate sensor.

On the other hand, hands up who wants to jog with an iPhone?

Anyone?

...Anyone?

In related news A copy and paste system (naturally not made by Apple) has been created by MagicPad developer Zac Whitebeen and offered to developers to incorporate into iPhone/iPod touch applications. Cleverly, the process passes Apple's strict developer rules by storing 'cut' data on an accessible clipboard from where you can 'paste' into other applications. Widespread adoption from here would naturally be nice, Apple taking this hint to make an official version would be nicer still...

Update: We're hearing these grabs are fake though its not like Apple will comment one way or the other... Bad French. Je n'aime pas.
