iPhone 3G Launches Across The Globe

So. It. Is. Here.
Without sounding too cynical, the device we all wanted first time around at the price points we all initially expected is finally here and the queues at Apple, O2 and Carphone Warehouse stores are growing as we speak.
Launched at 8.02am this morning (some smaller stores will hold back until 9am), the iPhone 3G is now officially available on a first come first served basis with those lucky enough to survive the pre-order chaos also expected to receive theirs delivered by courier today.

Naturally - and as is typical of the English and why we hold ourselves in such high regard - none of the US queing antics have been recreated with no more than a handful of eager fanboys seen outside the flagship Regent Street store come midnight. By contrast, eager Yanks have been lining up for more than a week.
Looking for a buying guide? We will have a full review up imminently (until then look at my brutal pros and cons list) and if you are chasing for a sweet tariff, £35pm and £45pm deals are where it's at (extended info here).
As a general rule of course, existing iPhone owners would be wise to see how this pans out while those still oblivious to the charms of Apple's groundbreaking handset should be more than ready to take the plunge.
No, it's not perfect, but 12 months on from the original release nothing still comes close...
Update: The ever industrious iPhone Dev Team claims to have cracked firmware 2.0 already while Zibri and his famed ZiPhone should have a working version for 2.0 imminently. Jailbreakers rejoice!
