another friend reports o2 systems have crashed
o2 wont take orders over the phone
i wont upgrade mine to 2.0 until jailbreak officially comes out as mine's got a buyer waiting....

Went with a colleague to local carphone warehouse, they had 4 8gb and 18 16gb phones for sale (all sold apart from 2 8gb).

Can conform o2 systems have crashed. Arrived at local o2 store at just before 8. A few people in front of me and got served at about 9.15, only to be told that the system had crashed and no existing iPhone customers could upgrade. Awaiting a call back to let me know when it's back up. More of shambles than the Internet reservations Monday!

I was 9th in the shop and finally left at 9:40am. They finally gave up with the computer system and started sending customers away with inactive iPhones saying they'll process the paperwork later today or tomorrow. What else could they do?
So I have a nice shiney new brick for a couple of days. Better than nowt I guess :)

o2's implementation plan for the iPhone 3G launch has been a complete debacle.
First the website upgrade shambles on Monday, Shop staff being completely in the dark regarding pertinent info, and now the icing on the cake, this mornings system crash fiasco.
They've been hyping this launch for months and they've not had the foresight to put proper procedures in place to deal with it. Even Louis Braille could've seen this coming. I wonder what Apple make of it all?
I have been whistling Sparks "Amateur Hour" all week; I wonder why? ;-)

I'm told the O2 Gateway system has been taken down completely to try and repair it. Those in queues (most people still are by the sound of it) can expect to wait at least an hour before they try and bring it up again. O2 really are blunder after farce after blunder, aren't they! What the hell am I letting myself in for??

I've upgraded iTunes to 7.7 ok, but does anyone have any idea as to when firmware 2.0 is gonna be made available for existing iPhone users?

I was queuing outside the 02 store in Kendal, Cumbria for two hours from 9am onwards in a 20 person queue. They sold out of 16GB'ers after the first 6 customers, so I had to settle for a lowly 8GB model. And to top it all off 02 don't have 3G coverage in my area, or anywhere within a 50 mile radius... grrrreat :) So I've paid £99 to upgrade from an 8GB iPhone to an 8GB iPhone 3G fooooor what exactly?! haha, it's all good fun!

Consider yourself lucky uou got one. I was at a Carphonewarehouse store in Sunningdale, Berkshire - very near our office in Ascot. Complete systems failure. I was the second person there and after an hour and a half they said we'd all have to go home. they set aside iPhones in order and told us they'd call us back.
They also told me I needed to call the Carphonewarehouse to get a PAC code. So, I called them. Lo and behold the girl told me I didn't really need one AND that she could process an order for me. So I did and she told me it would be delivered on Monday and that it was in stock. I'll believe it when I see it but I was pleasantly surprised to say the least.

Oh great! Time for another bout of iPhone superiority complexes...
Even with app store, it's a limited feature set with out of date components which can't send an MMS. Great. <sarcasm>I really want one!</sarcasm>
Oh and it's over priced.
O2 have some great planning though!

Ouch, the tariffs still seem harsh to me, especially the jump from £25(crap mins+txt) to £35 (loads of mins+Text!)there should be some sort of middle ground at £30 I think...
Just starting down my own personal iPhone experience, but rather than going down the way of spending £35 a month for 600 mins and 500 texts and £99 on the iPhone i managed to get a 1st gen iPhone for £159 and im going to use the £15 T-mobile sim only (350mins and 650mins) with web'n'walk to make it £22.50 a month! Much more reasonable IMO, altho obvioulsy I dont get the benefit of free wireless internet access, but I think I can deal with that...
