TrustedReviews NewslettersYes, we're back on iPhone 3G launch duty again but given the impassioned response to my story on the O2 Pre-order troubles it seems you guys are thirsty for more...
Sadly - as you might expect - we're again not looking at good news since we can confirm what many of you have been finding out first hand: iPhone 3G pre-order stock is now sold out at both O2 and the Carphone Warehouse.
Greeting (increasingly irritated) customers is now the message "Due to huge demand for iPhone 3G, we're currently out of stock online. Come back on 10th July for more information." All of which seems like the recipe for yet more last minute chaos.
In addition, the mystery about why customers were not able to specify colour has been solved: Apple is only shipping black versions in for launch! No official reason was given for this decision but some have suggested the snub is because Cupertino is none too pleased with the response to the original handset (way to make friends and influence people, guys). White was girly anyway...
Rolling on the bad news are also reports backing up our iPhone 3G PAYG exclusive last month which confirm the contract phobic won't be able to get their hands on the handset for quite some time. In fact Carphone Warehouse goes as far as saying it should have models "in time for the Christmas period" - holy moley!
So, are you still hanging on in there even now or have you decided to wait for a version with a decent camera? And if you are prepared to slug it out, one tip: go to the smaller O2 and Carphone Warehouse branches away from the main high streets of major cities - you're likely to have a lot more success...

As far as I know everyone is able to just turn up in store. New customers and eligible existing customers alike.

I called O2 on Monday, they said you could go into a store and walk out with your new 3G iPhone upgrade. However, I was also told they should have white in stock???!!!????

Spoke to someone in a store, they have confirmed no white iPhones until next week. That's if they are in the new batch. I want to wait but have the patience of a 4 yr old!

Thats a really good question, anyone at trusted reviews managed to confirm from O2 if we can upgrade instore on Friday? Need to set my alarm early on Friday if we can :-)
