Coming off the back of a horrendous year which has seen the handset sales crash a massive 38 per cent, the CEO resign and the whole business spun off (with the likely aim of praying for finding a buyer] hopes had been high for Motorola's first high end cameraphone - and oh dear me...


BoyGeniusReport has gotten its eager hands on the much anticipated Motorola/Kodak collaboration, dubbed the 'XPERL', and discovered a handset which just about sums up both their current market positions. For a start this is a five megapixel cameraphone - Motorola's highest lens to date - and it comes without autofocus. No, your eyes do not deceive you, you read that right. The second mind numbing decision is to go with EDGE over 3G (try uploading images to Flickr with that) and lastly onboard memory is a stingy 100MB meaning complete reliance on the microSD slot.

Some form of consolation does come from the integrated WiFi while Bluetooth makes its obligatory appearance, but sadly this coffin has long been nailed shut.

The XPERL is set to go arrive sometime over Q3 but a Cybershot and Viewty killer it most certainly is not...
