Bit of a roundup this, so let's get straight into it.

O2 has formalised what we have long known unofficially, the iPhone is no longer available in the UK. Both 8GB and 16GB capacities have disappeared from the market with the telco now stating they will not reappear. Carphone Warehouse has yet to be so bold but as you can see (below, right) is it also carrying no stock of either device.

Last month both outlets slashed the cost of the 8GB version to £169 until 1 June prompting a customer stampede which cleared out stock long ahead of schedule. With a new 3G iPhone due in June (15 June - at least in the US) we've now officially entered the crossover period (unless you wish to pay the full £269 and £329 for 8GB and 16GB models directly through Apple).

In related news BGR is reporting the newly launched iPhone SDK Beta 5 offers better YouTube support with users able to click on embedded videos in Safari which will then start the video playing in the dedicated YouTube application on the handset. Not perfect, but a step forward.

Lastly, Orange has confirmed it is in talks with Apple to broaden the number of countries in which it sells the iPhone. Spain and Poland are its primary targets with the news coming just three days after Vodafone confirmed it will launch the handset in a whopping 10 countries. Could the end of carrier exclusivity be gathering momentum?

Update: O2 and Carphone Warehouse have spoken to us to say some more stock of the 16GB iPhone may yet appear later this month, but don't expect it to be much.
