It is generally accepted that Samsung loves to throw around those "World's ...est" labels and it's at it again with a nifty little product - even if the claim isn't exactly on the money.

The Samsung 'i200' is a fairly plain looking candybar smartphone which takes its headlines from a "World's Slimmest" measurement of just 11.8mm. Now this is pretty thin, but it's actually no better than the ageing Motorola Q9 (11.8mm), far fatter than HTC's Touch Diamond (10.7mm) and is even bested by Apple's soon-to-be-business-worthy iPhone (11.6mm).

Still, fractions aside, what Sammy has created is a rather nice entry level Windows Mobile 6.1 device. It features HSDPA, a 2MP camera, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, a wide range of multimedia codec support, Mobile Office and the newly launched Windows Mobile 6.1. At 116.7 x 50.8 x 11.8mm and weighing in at 102.2g the i200 is extremely light too, in fact this is the lightest smartphone I know.

Perhaps Samsung should have led off with that statistic instead...

The i200 launches in Europe in May exclusively on Orange. Expect it to be free on most decent contracts.
