I'm going to try not to be extremely smug about this...

Today I attended the formal launch for the heavily hyped (and much drawn out) third member of the LG 'Black Label' series and we'll break it down by stepping away from the norm.

If you cast your MTV-eroded memories back to the start of the month I got rather fed up of LG's drip feed approach to the release of this handset. All we had was photography and news that it would feature a 5MP camera, so I told you what the remaining specifications would be and promised to grade myself once they were outed. Here we go:

It will have a name not a number (Viewty, Prada, Shine, Chocolate-style)
-It's called the 'SECRET'
3G connectivity plus WiFi and/or GPS
-3G and WiFi - no GPS
Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR
-Check
A multimedia player for both audio and video files
-Check along with DivX support and video recording at up to a Viewty-equalling 120fps
2.4/2.6in QVGA screen with 262k colours
-2.4in QVGA LCD with 262k colours
The main three buttons on the facia will be irritatingly touch sensitive
-Yup
Weight will be somewhere about the 100g mark
-112g
It'll carry only a small premium on a reasonable 12/18 month contract
-Free on 18 month deals, a 'small' extra on midrange 12 month deals
Oh yeah, and it'll be here within two months
-Launches in May

Other titbits are a semi-touchscreen interface (a finger friendly cut down menu can be toggled from a button on the side) and an accelerometer which automatically flips movies but not photos, the web browser or menus. All in all, it's rather nice and combines a welcome amount of substance with its fashion pretences. Now if you'll please excuse me I'm off to bathe in the wonder of my own magnificence (read: grind out my next story).
