Specs are out...

The BlackBerry 9000 has become about as anticipated an any RIM handset in recent years and with a radical make-over it's not surprising. So what's under the hood?

According to a leak within RIM itself reported by Boy Genius, a new high resolution 480 x 320 widescreen display will debut with the model along with a flagship 624MHz CPU which matches up well with Apple's newly businetised iPhoneand three big ticks beside the key trio of 3G, WiFi and GPS. On the software side, a new v4.5 of the BlackBerry OS ships along with a browser said to be capable of full site scaling and zooming.

Touchscreen still remains off the menu at present for RIM though while the 3G, WiFi, GPS combo is said to have a sizeable battery hit knocking call time down to four hours and web browsing over WiFi to a mere two. At this stage memory is unknown too, but is likely to be 128MB or 256MB. 18 June is the release date currently on everyones' lips, but the source does say the 9000 could still slip into July or August. Let's keep looking on the sunny side until we hear for certain.

So Apple, you've shown you want into the business world - this is what you've got to beat...
