Now we know what that something else was...

Launched today, the Samsung 'Soul' will be the company's flagship fashion phone for 2008 and to back up this lofty status it comes packed to the hilt with goodies...

Foremost among these is the 'Magical Touch' - a touch sensitive interface on the exterior of the handset with a morphing context sensitive display similar to the system employed in the ROCKR E8. Also fighting for the spotlight are an integrated five megapixel digital camera with face detection, image stabiliser and QVGA video recording, HSDPA 7.2Mbit mobile broadband, an FM tuner with RDS, wide audio support (MP3, WMA, AAC, etc), mobile blogger, RSS reader and native Google mail and search facilities.

Slightly disappointing is the 2.2in display which could have been larger given Samsung's recent offerings, but with a battery capable of 15 hours of continuous music playback, Bluetooth 2.0, and a microSD expansion slot this is a fairly well rounded and high class handset. At 105.9 x 49.5 x 12.9mm it's no pocket bulger either.

Samsung says it will provide 'full details' of the Soul at the Mobile World Congress (formerly 3GSM) which kicks off next week, but unless that includes a release date and pricing I think we've pretty much snagged the lot already...
