Welcome to the day after we went iPhone crazy with the global exclusive of the 16GB iPhone - nice to have you back and yes, there are other handsets out there too...

One such very capable looking model this week is the 'XDA Orbit 2' from O2, the follow-up to XDA Orbit which in turn was built upon HTC's P3300. Less clear this time around are who the Orbit 2's parents are (possibly still HTC, even if the styling isn't typical) but that hasn't stopped it from producing a darn fine feature set.

Ticking almost every conceivable box are: HSDPA, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, GPS with CoPilot Live 7, a 3MP camera, FM tuner, large 2.8in QVGA touchscreen, microSDHC expansion slot, multimedia playback and up to seven hours of talk time. Phew.

At 100 x 58 x 15.5mm and 130g the Orbit 2 is also comparatively portable for a fully fledged smartphone.

Just as pleasing, O2 says the Orbit 2 will go on sale immediately so if you're due an upgrade and sick to the back teeth of everything from Cupertino then here's a (less cool, though still) cracking alternative...
