Remember the SideKick Slide which - much like its most famous owner (link just a hint) - had a rather compromising mishap thrust it into the public consciousness. Still, all is apparently well now.

According to T-Mobile the Motorola built and Danger software coded handset will soon be back on sale after the problem (which could cause a hardware reset when the screen was slid open - oops) was eliminated through a revised design and new production run. T-Mobile also says it will offer an unnamed solution to solve the problem for existing Slide owners (hopefully not the business card fix).

As was already common knowledge, the flaw arose because of a manufacturing defect whereby the gap between the contacts for the battery and the connector on the phone were too large. Consequently when the screen was slid open the connection was lost and everything went to hell in a diamond encrusted, Chihuahua carrying handbag.

Unfortunately T-Mobile gave no exact date when its new Slides would be available or when it will be supplying existing owners with neatly cut business cards the 'fix'. Hopefully the SideKick can come out of its traumatising public baptism with as much class and style as its number one fan...
