Another iPhone story?! Yep, don't blame me, blame the FT...

The cash obsessed daily is claiming an exclusive and has declared that is knows for absolute certain (spit and shake on it) that O2 has secured the UK iPhone contract, while Orange has nabbed distribution in France and T-Mobile sole rights in Germany.

Interestingly, the pink-yet-manly-paper states "The contract, which was signed by three European mobile operators in recent days, requires that the operators hand over to Apple 10 per cent of the revenues made from calls and data transfers by customers over iPhones."

Has Apple really manages to score a revenue sharing deal with Euro networks? It appeared only desperate US telco AT&T would fall for that and, if true, it marks a radical first for any handset maker (not bad for a company on its first mobile). It also sets a dangerous precedent that is likely to anger more established players such as Sony Ericsson, Motorola and Nokia and encourage them to demand similar deals...

The FT goes on to say that O2, Orange and T-Mobile will make official announcements regarding the contracts during next week's IFA. Whether they are tied to the event itself however is doubtful since only T-Mobile is actually attending in person.

For the love of all things Holy can this network talk finally be over? Fingers' crossed...
