I'm beginning to like 3. In the early days it's handsets were monstrous bricks with horribly customised menus, grossly restricted web access and you couldn't get reception anywhere. Now they still have horribly customised menus but as for the rest: it's getting better all the time.

Latest case in point is the company's decision to reduce its already darn reasonable roaming costs to significantly below the EC's stringent new limits.

Announced in May, the Commission said networks would not be allowed to charge more than 33p per minute when making a call or 16p per minute when receiving one. In response Orange has already pushed these limits saying it will charge 38p and 19p respectively, but not 3.

It has announced that roaming charges will be capped at just 25p per minute to make a call to any standard landline or mobile and a mere 10p per minute to receive one. Furthermore it has introduced this rule for both monthly and pay as you go customers. SMSes will also be fixed at 25p a shot.

So now I've stopped giggling at 3 and started to like it, and I think you should too...
